Big release for all fans of Soto. Recorded live in 2009, this show is full with 245 mn of videos and 21 tracks. The image in 16:9 is very good, filmed by many cameras for a clear image ( except for the cameras at the rear of the club). The band is quiet static ( due to a small stage) but the cameras make it lively for a stunning performance. The audience is not crazy but very attentive of the show.The sound is in dolby surround, very lively with many soft moment, with guitars quiet powerless. The set list is from the past & now such as Talisman "4U", solo career or covers "Frozen" ( even if the original is better to my mind), "Crazy".... and even a song from the movie Rock star "Stand up"...and big medley at the end "Funky Medley".U will find a new crew: Jorge Salan (guitar, vocals), BJ (guitar, keyboards, vocals), Fernando Mainer (bass, vocals), Edu Cominato (drums, vocals).Don't forget the bonus and videos : Holding On, Eyes Of Love, Believe In Me (w/- Neal Schon), If This Is The End, 21st Century, Hey, Gin & Tonic Sky ( with a piano version) plus a Special Tribute video "In Memory of Marcel Jacob". ....and footage in the plane, hotel....but u should have a sense of humour to watch it ! Nothing serious at all !
On March 14, 2009 Journey played in Manila in the Philippines which is the homeland of Arnel Pineda. About 30,000 fans were present for their concert which is captured on this two dvd's for 25 tracks.Many cameras filmed that show ( 4K high definition camera which has a resolution that exceeds 35 mm film). That open air show has really good image, very clear ( not easy by night and outside) , nice stage ( big screen at the back) and the most important, a great sound , very lively and a new great singer ( without accent) very powerful & energic ( a real pleasure for eyes).Dean Castronovo sings lead vocal chores on three songs ( and many close-ups to show his talent......no his mother is not Shiva).Obviously, a dvd made for every fans .Great job dude !
The new Jorn is out now for a live show in dvd and in cd . A show recorded and filmed at the Sweden Rock Festival in front of 25000 kids. The line up is : Jørn Lande on Vocals, Nic Angileri on Bass, Willy Bendiksen on Drums, Tore Moren on Guitars, Tor Erik Myhre on Guitars .Many effects in the image, too much is too much. The colors are saturated by moments, plans in black/white could be nice in small doses, cameramen from the low-stage is so so and the last but not the least, too many changing plans ( nothing to see with the Black Country Communion).The sound is clean , maybe too much, but will satisfied all of the fans. Not easy to be original, nonetheless, that release will be a good surprise for diehards.... and they are many.
Not the best dvd of the Priest but it will show many nice footage, interview from musicians from the hard rock sphere ( Ozzy, Geoff Barton....) , about their first gigs ( it's not the look that kills ), the coming of Halford, trial.....huge stage, great show. No subtitle, even in english. The image is from a VHSrip so forget it !But the sound is correct.
This is the bonus dvd of the 30 th anniversary of British Steel album released in 2010. U will get a full show recorded in Florida ( Hard rock Arena) , 17 th august 2009 plus the " making of British steel interview".Like said the band " we feel that this dvd catches the very essence of that excitement" !!!.The metal is real when u watch that performance. The cd is the same remastered one from 2001 with two Bonus studio track. "Red, White, and Blue" was written in the earlier years of Priest's career and recorded at Compass studio in Nassau in July 1985.The second bonus track, a live performance of "Grinder", was recorded on 5 May 1984, in LA during the defenders of the faith tour.About the stage, u will heve a nice light show, not the best but it's enough. U will have the cover of "britsh steel" at the rear of the stage behind Scott. Many automatic cameras with many close-ups.The image is very clear, colourful, full screen.U will enjoy "united" and the classics "living after midnight", "the ripper" or the song of the Priest "Breaking the law".The price is very low so u know what to do ...
We are back in July of 1982, the eighth studio album of Judas Priest. This album was a Metal classic. Now, in 2012, this album is cult top 3 album of the band. On September 4th, Screaming For Vengeance – Special 30th Anniversary Edition (CD/DVD) will be released via Legacy....The cd has bonus which includes 6 bonus tracks, 4 of which are previously unreleased live tracks (Electric Eye, Riding On The Wind, Screaming For Vengeance and You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’), recorded live on September 10, 1982 in San Antonio, Texas on the Screaming For Vengeance Tour.The main interest is the dvd from the huge US festival (" too many heavy metal maniacs "said Rob). The image is in 4:3 ( like the Quiet riot's show ) and very good, that's the good point . Some colors are dribbling ( too much red on face) but nothing to be upset.The sound is very good.Many great Judas Priest's tunes are here "heading out the highway", "living after midnight" or "victim of changes ( and his nice intro)...Many big plans on musicians, on guitars , on the audience....it's catchy, it's screaming so ( except the out dated look) u will be satisfied.....
To sum up: Jason Becker is one of the world's most innovative and awe-inspiring guitarists and musicians. At 17, he recorded the first of two Cacophony cd's with Marty Friedman ( ex Megadeth also) followed by two amazing solo albums " perpetual burn " & "the raspberry jams". This DVD features rare and archive footage of both Cacophony and many solo performances. Furthermore, the film includes Becker's guitar clinic at the Atlanta Institute of Music, giving a poignant insight into this legendary figure..( remenber, he was voted "best new guitarist " by the readers of Guitar magazine.....) The image is not at the top ( VHS quality) and in 4/3 and no english subtitle ( not easy for explanations).In the foreground, u have Jason & his guitar but better to have only a look on his guitar for more details....cause the lesson is quiet long and skilfully.Now, Jason cannot speak or walk anymore but still composes so thanks cause it takes courage to do that.
