Hum, i've bought this dvd but it doesn't play on my dvd player. Just on my blue-ray??? Nonetheless, the show ,recorded at The bang u head Festival ( so in open air) in 2006, is quiet good.Big stage ( with many lights even during tha day) and the musicians are moving a lot ( respect due to their age) and looks happy to be there ( it's not Nirvana).The image is very deep, clear and the cameras are used wittingly , the show is not boring at all. It's a job to realise a montage dvd.The set list is a hit collection: "double vision", "cold as ice" "feels like the first time", "head games".......Suppléments : Interview: Mike Jones (6 mn), Kelly Hansen(15mn40), Jason Boham(2mn43) Foregner TV(6mn20) but u have no subtitle....funny to see Jason in 2008, change so much from the 80's......
if the set list is nice: "Where Theres A Whip Theres Way;Slip Of The Tongue;Cathouse;Poison Ivy; Little Dove; House Of Pain, Bathroom Wall,Babylon", don't expect too much from the sound. It's a pitty cause the show is very professional, multi cameras, big stage, good performance ( even in the look & attitude to the music ), the problem is the transfer from video tape to dvd that altered the quality.For a show of 45 mn, fans will be satisfied due to the rare document about that band ( and here, maybe the best in fact ). So a must for fans.
A nice show recorded in a nice theater ( the famous Ryman Auditorium in Nashville) with balcony. At least, the show is filmed in high definition for a beautiful result and cameras job is fluid ( u see all the musicians). And the new singer Kelly Hansen is killing (sings with conviction all songs). He has the rock attutude and a warm voice to make a seeing show. For sure, the best Foreigner by quality. Also 3 bonus videos have been added to the menu: 3when it comes to love", "can't slow down" ( live montage in fact) and "too late".And u will also have a few songs from the PBS concert soundstage performance such as the acoustic re-worked of "say u will" or "night life " ( All of these songs feature Jason Bonham on drums , he doesn't appear on the main concert, a post taken by Brian Tichy who is curently with Whitesnake now but he was also the drummer of Biily Idol, Ozzy or Slash...do u follow ?).
Just some history about the band:The band's original name was "Paradox" founded by Drummer Kelly David-Smith and two other guitarists, until 1982 when bassist Jason Newsted ( after Metallica & Voivod) joined. Jason had come to Phoenix with his band "Gangster" from Michigan on their way to California, but Gangster broke up while in Phoenix. Kelly and Jason (also doing the vocals) played their first professional gig as "Dredlox" together with guitarists Mark Vasquez and Kevin Horton.In March 2008 Flotsam and Jetsam toured in Europe and played at Metalmania's Festival in Poland. This show was filmed and released as DVD Once in a Deathtime in July. Midyear 2008 the band were signed to Driven Music Group, founded by guitarist Brian "Head" Welch (KORN).First point, the quality is very good. I thought to have a poor gig in a small club, but u will surprised by the quality. A full screen image, many cameras, nice stage ( like a small zenith) and a really good sound. Many metalheads, a fine melodic thrash metal.If u like the band , have a look absolutly !
