DVD W
This dvd has a menu for songs selection.U have one title by band.Funny to see Sacred Reich ( and the big belly of his singer....yes....getting old) and his voice melodic/aggressive. A fine cast with Type O Negative, Rose Tatoo, Iced earth (with Tim), Saxon "let me feel the power", a melodic song from In Flames.....but also heavy stuff with Dimmu Borgir and mad max clothes or Immortal...............so very eclectic.
Twenty years after, it was time to celebrate the "1987" album. Here it is ! The bonus dvd has a nice menu ( see the cover). U have the choice between 4 live tracks from the dvd "In the still of the night" or 4 videos without audio choice. It's a pleasure to see again "here i go again" , "still of the night" or the very 80's video " is this love".For all the fans, don't forget , the "1987" reissue of Axe Killer with "Slip of the tongue" cd in nice black boxset.
Not top quality image, short set but u can appreciate the level of the bands.
Bad documentary for me about band the festival. The image is so so for a dvd from 2009.
Winger in 2007 signed in Italy.....just funny. The line up :Kip Winger - vocals and bassReb Beach - guitars and vocals
,John Roth - guitars and vocals, Rod Morgenstein - drums and vocals. The track list is little bit different from the cd with the title "hungry" at the end, a show recorded at the Galaxy theater in 2007 from their US tour ( and the not exceptional album Winger IV). Even if the band uses almost 10 cameras, the show is not fantastic. Too many plans ( 4 cameras on the drums ???), the light shows is poor, no visual effects ( look at the clothes ????). Even if the music is more important, a show is also visual...mostly in the hard US, and mostly for a name like Winger.Of course, u will hear the early big hits "Madelaine" , "seventeen"; "miles awaaay" or "easy come, easy go"....and the traditional solos ( guitar & drums), u will see a show with a nice image , nothing to say.But it's not a magical show...just very professional.
Bootleg from Russia , image 4:3, nice menu & chapter. Good quality with official videos" now u're gone , "fool for...", live from different shows like "Donington 90 & 83" , look at the set list: . Fool For Your Loving , Now You're Gone, The Deeper The Love, The Deeper The Love (Starkers In Tokyo), Sailing Ships (Starkers In Tokyo), Judgement Day (Live... In The Still Of The Night), Slow And Easy, Love Ain't No Stranger, Love Ain't No Stranger (Starkers In Tokyo), Give Me More Time (Top Of The Pops 19th January 1984), Love Ain't No Stranger (Live... In The Still Of The Night), Still Of The Night, Here I Go Again '87, Is This Love, Give Me All Your Love. So the interest is to have some videos on the same dvd with a very good quality.
If u have many hours free, u can wach the 20 th anniversary of the Wacken with three dvd's ( subtitle in english and german). The quality is still very good, with menu and audio in 5.1. For the story , this event was special. The 2009 edition set a sales record; it sold out on December 30, 2008. All 70,000 tickets were sold over 200 days before the opening of the festival....so happy birthday ! Nice open show with Bai Bang ( but not on the main stage) with the sleazy & rebelliuos attitude. just know u will get many german bands ( quiet unfamous for me) but also good surprise such as D.A.D ( witha drummer in a suit...or how to be out of step with the others mostly with the bassist).U will get also the famous Running Wild with " bad to the bones" ( good but i miss some fun) or Gamma ray or Nevermore .... and many, many more.A wide range of bands could be better in my opinion. But it's the wacken.
Be aware, it's not Jani Lane here but St James. The image is not HD but correct for a low budget, the image is full screen in 4:3, the sound is good. The dvd has a menu to select songs or bonus. Not a live show but videos of "born again".The framwork of the videos is the same for all: one private camera or private footage of the band. At first, u say bullshit but it's watchable.Additional bonus Release Material: "Mini Monster" - Tour Diary ( no english subtitle) & In The Studio with Warrant Text & Photo Galleries: The Devolution of Delvis. That would be more intelligent to make a real live set ( even if bonus are correct). And Warrant without Jani is no more Warrant, even if St James is a really good performer. So to conclude: Borrow it ! In the dvd they said: "No jets, no million dollars, just a good time" . I think with product like that, u're right guys .
A 10 years compilation of Wendy. At first, it's a big mess. In fact, it's quiet varied. A wide range of style. From Punk to hard rock. The documentary is divided up into 5 periods covering 1977 - 1988, all selectable via a menu. The quality looks old but it will give u an idea of the woman. She was fuckin' crazy ( most of the time in bikini on stage), completly destroy....but had so many fans. She had very good musicians also, less crazy but still effective. Some videos are nice to see and she used to have good songs "it"s my life and i do what i ...". So not the dvd of the year ( so far) but a good stuff to discover the universe of the madwoman.
Live dvd recorded at the Camden Palace Theater, London, United Kingdom, 09/1985.It's a killer live. The sound is quiet raw and the image looks old but u will be satisfied by the performance.
The fans demanded it for a long time but have u ever seen that release ? If not, try to watch it before buying. Even if the line up is Coverdale/ Vandenberg/Aldridge/ Sarzo and performing in front of more than 70,000 fans ,it's not enough to make a good product. The image is very dark., in 4:3 and many bad scenes (but also many good ones).Looks like a bootleg TV show more than the big release of the year by Frontiers records. To end that small chronicle , just know u will get also a substantial gallery of never before seen stills of the band on the "Liquor & Poker World Tour 1990," plus an intimate behind-the-scenes documentary of the making-of the "Slip Of The Tongue" album....and two cd's for the complete edition.
Leverty's band White Heat with the drummer Michael Foster was the beginnings of Firehouse. With C.J Snare ( ex Maxx Warrior).....So a old show recorded in Kannapolis, North Carolina...through lack of money the qualit is poor, just one camera ( with a tripod so it's not shaky) without closes up , no zoom except the drum solo. Here is the set list: Lover's Lane,Rock in a Hard Place,Overnight Sensation, Don't Treat Me Bad, Don't Leave, Oughta Be a Law, Love Can't Wait, Rock 'N' Roll Music,Helpless (w/solo), Rock on the Radio, Bill Leverty Acoustic Solo, Home is Where the Heart Is ,Michael Foster Drum Solo, Flame On, The Call of the Night, Gimme Some Lovin'...The sound is audible but u must be easily pleased to watch it. The image sucks ! Sorry, no other words.
A nice cd/dvd release. The dvd has a menu with track selection & biography/ discography. This live from London is good, before all, just know it was recording before "triumph & agony" so u won't have the perpetual "all we are" (that's good). Moreover , it was recorded at the Camden palace ( like many show from 80's) so don't expect a big stage but Camden Palace is also synonymous with quality. Here, it's music , unadorned stage (except smog), sweat....and the same metal voice (it doesn't match to her cute & lovely face). So if u forget the classics of Warlock, it's time to revise.
