DVD T
Fans have been happy with the release of this dvd ( with a 5.1 , nice menu, a correct image even very 80's and a screen in 4/3, subtitle in english). Most of them had the old VHS. So u can get all the videos of Twisted, some are moderns "love is for sucker" or funny "u can't stop rock n roll" or the crazy "Be chrool to your scuel" ( a school full of zombies.....really funny for 80's), a really good moment except for "the price", a great song which deserves so much more, cannot say it's fantastic except if u grew with The sisters like me.And u'll get the "Stay Hungry '84 " Twisted's live show. A show with only 10 songs but with a very clean edition, really good work .U should have a look and remenber: "what do u want to do with ur life "...........: I WANNA ROCK !
If u like heavy metal from 80's with melody, u should have a look at this show, a show unadorned, raw but suit to the style ( charm of the 80's). If u want similtary, i could say Wrathchild ( also recording at camden , now called Koko club)....not for the music but for the video recording.Special award to the singer in good health and for his joviality. Rock on !
The Irish hard rock band formed in 69 is back for a Hard rock documentary without subtitle, just english audio.Thin Lizzy are best known for their songs "Whiskey in the Jar", "Jailbreak" and "The Boys Are Back in Town" and some of great musicians such as , Sykes John, Lynott, Moore etc...So u will get almost one hour about the history of the band by musicians . It includes archives & interviews from Scott Gorham, Brian Downey, Eric Bell, Brian Robertson, Midge Ure, Tony Visconti, Joe Elliott and Bob Geldof. The image is in 16:9, good image for a good job.Don't expect complete live songs but just some extracts.
The gothic band from norway is back with a new cd/dvd package. So the dvd cover was created by Haakon Hoseth . The dvd has a menu to select songs or full concert. The intro is nice. The satge is not very big , many ( too much ???) blue lightspots, just a curtain with the name of the band of the rear of the stage and that's all for the stage decoration. ...maybe to show that the music is the most important for the last show.A final full of sadness.Big sound ( too much keyboards), even the voice of Nell Sigland predominate on Raymond Rohonyi ( in black shirt... man, u could make visual efforts for ur last show). Many cameras are used ( from the audience or on stage) for a good result. People are quiet static ( it's truth that the band doesn't communicate too much).Good release for fans but for the neophyte , the show is not enough lively .................to my mind.
The band from Finland ( the side project of MARCO HIETALA..... the nightwish's bassist and his brother) recorded that show in 2007 at club Rupla, Kuopio.Looks like Vikings on stage, i guess they don't need safety staff. The club has a medium size, the light show is not big but suit to their heavy metal with many blue lightspots. Many cameras, many angles but too many short plans. But it's the rules for many dvd's now, that's the big difference with the 70's.But the show is very professional , big clear guitars and most of all for a live show an excellent atmosphere , people are really happy and the band communicate at many times but ...not in english.U have also a bonus dvd: Marco & Zac Interwiev,Stigmata Archives,21st Century Live Scenes,Pyre of Gods (promotional video),Ashes to the Stars (promotional video)..
This concert from Lorely ,Germany in 1981 was filmed for the german TV series Rockpalast. The set draws tracks from across Thin Lizzy's career and includes both hits and rarities. The dvd has a menu ( and chapter)s and it's an official release. The set begins by the track "Are u ready ?" ( to rock..........sure, we are !). The image is quiet good ( but many scratches and quiet dark) for a TV show from 81. U have a dolby stereo ,5.1 and DTS for the audio. A very good mix (less for guitars). The show is an outdoor live show (by night) filmed by nice cameras ( means good framing). The concert has an approximate running time of 112 minutes. The line up is:Phil Lynott - Bass, Lead Vocals ,Brian Downey - Drums ,Scott Gorham - Guitar , Snowy White - Guitar , Darren Wharton - Keyboards . So listen hits such as "Jaibreak" or "the boys are back in town" or about strong subject "sugar blues"...
Their gig show us theirappearance before 75,000 fans at the 1996 Dynamo Festival in Holland, and extra like the band's promo videos and bonus footage from an appearance in Krakow, Poland in 1997.The image is a VHS quality if u see what i mean, not bad but not excellent. Anneke waas famous but the gig is not fantastic, she looks like a hippie. Not my style of visual. The music is sleepy ( maybe the drummer make a stop at the coffee shop before playing). The framing sucks ! About the show in Poland, it's little bit better ( she looks more sexy, even if the most important is the music, but it's a show....) but the sound is still boring. Just for fans .
A dvd with menu & chapters. Recorded in BALINGEN, GERMANY 25.06.2005. A set list like a best of :"STAY HUNGRY" , ".WE´RE NOT GONNA TAKE IT", "BURN IN HELL", " HORROR-TERIA: (A) CAPTIAN HOWDY , (B) STREET JUSTICE ", " .I WANNA ROCK" ( see the audience), " THE PRICE " ( i love that song and this intro...), "DONT LET ME DOWN", THE BEASt" , "S.M.F", "IT´S ONLY ROCK N´ ROLL (BUT I LIKE IT)", ".YOU CANT STOP ROCK ´N´ ROLL". That's a show recorded by the festival so they have used many cameras ( many closes up for a very good effect) , nice views mostly on "burn in hell". The stage is big and the light show is good ( even somke). The image is very good for a festival show and u can see at many times the audience ( that's a very good point ).Dee is still a killing frontman ( but Dee..... u speak too much man) here with a killer style . People were lucky to be there....SMF! Get it !
At least, the awesome raw and powerfull Twisted Sister live show from the legendary Reading Festival in 82 is released. U will get the ur favorite musicians : Dee Snider – lead vocals; Jay Jay French – guitars, Eddie Ojeda – guitars, Mark Mendoza – bass, A J Pero – drums. The image is better than expected for a show from 82, in 4:3 and full screen. Great performance ( except it's during the day so no light show) and set list: " What You Don't Know," "Bad Boys (Of Rock 'n Roll)," "Tear it Loose" and "Under the Blade," it's the finale with the cover of the Rolling Stones' "It's Only Rock 'n Roll".....but i like it....and a final jam with three bassists with Lemmy, Pete way & "the animal" and three guitarists with Eddie Clarke, Ojeda and Jay Jay.In fornt of 30,000 british kids. Let u know the pleasure of Dee and his fury to prove what rock n roll is meaning. The same energy year by year.Don't forget the 40 mn of interviews by all menbers remembering the UK years in studio. So a treasure for fans. Just one point to highlight, the show was filmed mostly from the two sides of the stage, which is quiet boring.
First acoustic set i bought in my life ( it begins to do a long time),and it was a surprise at that time. A complete set recoded at the Trocadero , Phildelphia , July 2 th, 1990.The image is correct in 4:3. The sound is soundboard. The atmosphere is fun. The camerawork is fluid, no change of plans every seconds, just a show in the old 80's days. The voice is hot & bluesy, hot like the audience. The musicians are relax, everything is under control. Maybe one the most successful acoustic jam on dvd with the Nirvana's unplugged. The stage is not to big , they give priority to the intimist side of the event....
Rare Ted Nugent 's show redorded - June 23, 1995 at the Walnut Creek Amphitheater, Raleigh, NC.The line up is: Ted Nugent - guitar, vocals, Derek "original" St. Holmes guitar, vocals, Michael Lutz bass, vocals,Benny Rappa - drums, background vocals. The show is correct, not too beautiful but the sound is very lively with a ted in good health. Pure hard rock show , very lively & electric with a Ted very talkative. The atmosphre is festive "kiss my ..." just to quote one song.Even if u need to turn the sound down of the tv to watch it, u will have a good lesson of what hard rock should be.It shouldn't be difficult to convince u to have a look at this !
Nice dvdrip of the old VHS "Ultimate tour". If u wanna back in 85 to see Slayer and their killer's attitude ( see kerry King) or the great Exodus. Not bad quality for 1985 ( even dark image in 4/3 but nice plans).U will be surprised to see the young Dave with his T shirt of D.R.I. during interviews. Well, have a look.
The 6000 th concert to celebrate 40 th years in the business. Not bad, so more than a concert it's a celebration. It begins with a nice cake on stage with a nice blonde chick inside. Don't feel horny, just for fun. The image is nice, 16:9 in full screen with nice camera work. A old style show, suit to this type of show, no flowery style, a pure rock n'hard full of guitar riffs, straightfoward.Good sound, Ted is not the best singer but suit to this rock hard. A special award to the drummer. A happy man said Ted, normal, it's a nice evening with a nice "old" audience ( we are in Michigan). To sum up a good complete show for US fans, a nice present to get for others. The dvd has no bonus.
